River rafting in Rishikesh on the Ganges — Wander Sky
About Rafting in Rishikesh

Why Rishikesh is India's Best Place for River Rafting

Rishikesh sits where the Ganges comes rushing down from the Himalayas. This gives the river the perfect mix of speed, power, and scenic beauty. People come here from all over India and the world just to raft these waters.

The Ganges here flows through a gorge surrounded by green hills and ancient temples. The rapids change character with every season — giving you a slightly different experience each time you come. Wander Sky has been running daily rafting trips on this river for over 5 years.

We use certified equipment, follow government safety rules, and train our guides every season. Over 3,500 travelers have rated our rafting trips 4.8 out of 5. You are in safe hands from the moment you arrive at the launch point.

Understanding Rapid Grades in Rishikesh

Rapids are graded from I to VI based on how difficult they are. Rishikesh has Grade I to Grade IV rapids. Here is what each grade means for you.

I–II
Gentle & Easy

Slow water with small waves. You just paddle forward and enjoy the view. Perfect for kids (14+), seniors, and first-timers who have never rafted before.

Brahmapuri Stretch (9km)

II–III
Fun & Moderate

Bigger waves and some sharp turns. You need to paddle hard in sections. Still manageable for most people with no rafting experience. Great for groups and friends.

Shivpuri Stretch (16km)

III–IV
Thrilling & Hard

Strong currents, big waves, and tricky turns. The raft can tilt and shake a lot. You need good fitness and should listen carefully to your guide's commands.

Marine Drive Stretch (26km)

IV–V
Extreme & Expert

Very powerful water with huge drops and nearly impossible obstacles. Rafts can flip. Only for experienced rafters with prior Grade III experience. Not for beginners at all.

Kaudiyala Stretch (35km)
